Vision & Commitment

At St Michael’s CE Primary School, we believe that caring for God’s creation is part of our Christian responsibility. As stewards of the Earth, we are called to protect and cherish the world God has given us — for the good of all people, now and in the future.

"The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it."Psalm 24:1

Our approach to sustainability reflects the Church of England’s wider commitment to environmental responsibility and to living out our faith in action. We believe caring for creation is a vital expression of our Christian values — one that teaches our pupils compassion, justice, courage, and hope in the face of climate change.

Christian Foundations for Our Action Plan

  • Stewardship: We are caretakers, not owners, of the world God has made
  • Hope: We believe that change is possible and that our actions matter
  • Justice: We act to protect those most vulnerable to climate impacts
  • Wisdom: We make decisions that consider the long-term good of God’s creation
  • Community: We work together in fellowship for the common good

We have pupils who are responsible for being Eco Warriors.

Our Objectives (2025–2030)

  •  Reduce our carbon footprint and energy costs through practical, phased improvements to our building and behaviours.
  •  Protect and enhance biodiversity on our school site as an act of reverence for God’s creation and to support learning through nature.
  • Equip our pupils with the knowledge, faith, and skills to empower them as sustainability champions and decision-makers by embedding environmental and theological understanding across the curriculum.
  • Build resilience to climate-related risks such as overheating and flooding, ensuring our school remains a safe and flourishing place for all.

All Children and staff make the following promises:
