At St Michael’s, spiritual development is about helping every child to explore who they are, what they believe and how they connect with God, themselves, others and the world around them.

Rooted in our Christian vision and inspired by the teachings of Jesus, we create opportunities for children to wonder, reflect, ask questions, express their beliefs and experience a sense of awe and joy.

Through collective worship, prayer, our RE curriculum, time in nature, music, art, storytelling, reflection and meaningful experiences, children are encouraged to develop their own spirituality in a way that is authentic and personal to them. We provide space for children to consider big questions about life, faith, purpose, justice and what it means to live well with others, while respecting and valuing the beliefs and perspectives of those around them.

Our MICHAEL values – Mission, Integrity, Compassion, Honesty, Appreciation, Encouragement and Love – provide a foundation for children to put their beliefs into action, developing a sense of responsibility, empathy and service. We want every child to leave St Michael’s with a growing sense of wonder, wisdom, hope and purpose, understanding that they are valued, that they belong and that they have the capacity to help themselves and others to flourish.
