At St Michael’s, we recognise that enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities play an important role in developing the whole child and enabling every pupil to flourish. We provide a broad range of experiences that extend pupils’ learning beyond the classroom, including sporting opportunities, music, performance, creative activities, educational visits, themed days and opportunities to represent the school in competitions and events.

As a member of ATSA (Atherton and Tyldesley Sports and Arts), our pupils benefit from opportunities to participate in a wider range of sporting competitions and we provide a range of cultural opportunities and events alongside other local schools.

Within school, our inter-house system provides regular opportunities for healthy competition, teamwork and collaboration. Pupils belong to one of our four proud houses: Green Owls, Red Robins, Blue Kingfishers and Yellow Eagles, with half-termly inter-house competitions giving pupils the opportunity to demonstrate their skills, resilience and sportsmanship.

Pupils also develop their talents and interests through activities such as choir, Young Voices, Rock Kidz, sporting events and wider community activities.

Our enrichment programme is designed to ensure that pupils experience things they may not otherwise have access to, building confidence, resilience, teamwork and aspiration. We also make purposeful links with our church and local community, enabling pupils to understand their role as active and responsible members of society.

Through our extra-curricular and enrichment offer, we seek to ensure that every child has opportunities to discover new interests, develop their God-given gifts and create memorable experiences that contribute to their personal, social, spiritual and cultural development.
