School Meals - Local Kitchen formerly Metrofresh

Our school meals are provided by Local Kitchen (formerly Metrofresh), which is run by Wigan Local Authority.

School Meals are currently £2.50 a day and must be paid for in advance. This may change annually, prices are determined by Local Kitchen (the provider of our school meals).

Children in reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM).  This is different than the Free School Meal entitlement. If you feel as a parent that your child is eligible for Free School Meals, then please register them with Wigan Local Authority (or whichever Authority you live in), your child will be entitled to additional school benefits (tailored to your child's needs), if they are entitled to Free School Meals and you register them. If you think your child is eligible for Free School Meals, please click on the link further down this page, which will give you more information.

School meals are tracked and recorded on a system called School Grid, this will change towards the end of September as school will move over to the preferred provider of Local Kitchen and is called Evolve.  Lunches should be ordered in advance at home by parents, we are moving away from children ordering them in the classroom.  Parents ordering from them at home gives them more ownership of what your child will eat and will also ensure that when the children are in the classroom, they have more learning time. A log-in is needed to access School Grid and Evolve and this can be received by requesting it from the school office and supplying the school office with, the parents' name, the parents' email and the children you wish this account to be linked to.

Parents can pay for these meals online on the School Grid system for now and Evolve from the end of September  (not Eduspot), they can pay either by direct debit or debit / credit card. Payment can also be made in cash or cheque, (payable to St Michael's), by sending into school, with your child, in an envelope with your child's name, class and dinner money clearly marked.

When you supply school with the details needed for a log in, parents will receive an email from School Grid which will have a link to their website.

Eligibility for Free School Meals

This is Metrofresh's menu for September 2021, however, at St Michael's we are constantly ensuring the meals that Metrofresh cook for our children are what they enjoy while making sure nutritional values are maintained.
