House Captains and Vice Captains for 2017/18
Children in the current Y2 - Y5 voted during Democracy Week. Next year's Captains and Vice Captains will be announced on Tues 19th at the end of year Prize Giving Assembly. Many thanks to this year's Captains and Vice Captains who have been a credit to the school and carried out their responsibilities admirably.
Rainy weather has prevented the annual Sports Day from going ahead. The reserve day looked promising and staff worked hard to have the field ready. With just one gazebo to erect, heavy rain came down around 11:30 and persisted. The previous day, the fine weather ensured the Major Girls and Boys Football (Y5&Y6) could go ahead as scheduled. Winning Houses will be announced at the Prize Giving on Tues 19th. Many thanks to Mrs Gilman and Mr Hestford for the organisation.
Weather permitting. Y3 will contest the House Rounders on Mon 18th.
KS1 House Kurling
The infants enjoyed an exciting morning of Kurling on Thurs 14th when Houses competed for the annual trophy. The Kingfishers were worthy overall winners and there were some high scoring individuals and bulls eyes. Leyton True was the overall individual winner in a tense play off with the highest scorers from the other Houses. Y3 brought the House flags along with plenty of cheers for their Houses! Many thanks to all the Infant Staff for the excellent organisation. A great event!
Intra School Sport is organised through teams from the four Houses : Robins (red), Kingfishers (blue), Owls(green) and Eagles(yellow). The House Captains have an important role in the organisation of our Intra Competitions, take responsibility for the teams and act as match officials. Sports Leadership has a high profile at St Michael's and its development helps the children to respect other competitors and officials. House Captains have a key role in shaping the future of Intra and Inter school sport at St Michael's and meet half termly with Mrs Evans.
This year's House competitions will include KS1 Kurling - with the Owls the current holders of the trophy! Team Captains and Bullseye winners are pictured having received the trophy and medals from Mr Johnson, a past Headteacher of St Michael's.
